نویسنده
چکیده
We present the rotation curves of 967 southern spiral galaxies, obtained by deprojecting and folding the raw Hα data originally published by Mathewson, Ford & Buchhorn (1992). For 900 objects, we also present, in figures and tables, the rotation curves smoothed on scales corresponding to 5% 20% of the optical size: of these, 80 meet objective excellence criteria and are suitable for individual detailed mass modelling, while 820, individually less compelling mainly because of the moderate statistics and/or limited extension, are suitable for statistical studies. The remaining 67 curves suffer from severe asymmetries, small statistics, and large internal scatter that may largely limit their use in galaxy structure studies. The deprojected folded curves, the smoothed curves, and various related quantities are available via anonymous ftp at galileo.sissa.it in the directory /users/ftp/pub/psrot. Subject headings: galaxies: kinematics and dynamics — galaxies: internal motions — galaxies: structure

A preliminary analysis of their properties confirms that rotation curves are a universal function o...

A scalar potential model (SPM) was developed from considerations of galaxy clusters and of redshift. The SPM is applied to H i rotation curves (RCs) and RC asymmetry of spiral galaxies. The resulting model adds the force of a scalar potential of the host galaxy and of neighboring galaxies to the Newtonian rotation velocity equation. The RC is partitioned radially into regions. The form of the e...

A simple model for the dust media describing evolution of the system like spiral galaxy is considered. In contrast to previous considerations we show that the initial density fold should be quasi-one-dimensional (bar-like) instead of disc-like. The disc component of the galaxies appears only during the evolution. The model naturally reproduces some essential features of the galaxies. In particu...

We present MOND analysis for several of the lowest mass disc galaxies currently amenable to such analysis–with (baryonic) masses below 4 · 108M⊙. The agreement is good, extending the validity of MOND and its predicted mass velocity relation, to such low masses. Subject headings: dark matter galaxies: kinematics and dynamics
